I think this book is pretty good. The flashbacks are a little confusing but it makes the book somewhat more interesting.
Quotes:
"Sometimes the Japanese voices came first, angry and loud, pushing the song far away, and then he could hear the shift in his dreaming, like a slight afternoon wind changing its direction, coming less and less from the south, moving into the west, and the voices would become Laguna voices..."
I liked this quote because it had like an odd form of imagery. Like I can actually imagine the Japanese people yelling but it only gives a description of the voices and sounds. I also like how Silko used the shifting of his dreams. She used a good simile and it's transition is very good.
I noticed Silko is very good at imagery. She uses similes and metaphors very well, they create better images and gives a better idea of what's going on.
Hey Chesna,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Silko uses great imagery but it's hard to keep up with everything when you don't know what is going on.
I agree with you the imagery is good but if is hard to follow...so far in the frist 2 reading sections there already was a "sex" scen lets ee how many more come up...it seems that a lot of the books we have been reading latley have been like that.what do you think of all the flashbacks and change of scens in the story???
ReplyDeleteChesna,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post.
What exactly about the flash backs makes the book more interesting because many of your classmates are saying the book is 'boring'?
What similes, metaphors, etc are you noticing and why do you notice them?
Need delve deeper with your post...very surface level, almost like you scanned, pulled a quote, and posted.
