The passage we have read this past night i thought was pretty intresting. The whole Josiah and Night Swan relationship continued and the rest of his family found out about it, as you guys know already. The whole family seems to be so concerned about what their fellow villagers think. I also have a questions about what the note he asked Tayo to deliver to her, was it like a brake up note kind of thing or was it just a note. I was also mad that Tay o ended up sleeping with her. Something that als ocaught my attention was (like Geoff mentioned) "You don't have to understand what is happening. But remember this day. You will recognize it later. You are part of this now." What is he part of? Just apart of the list of guys she's list with or something bigger than that. I also think that Josiah might be a little upset with Tayo after what he has done. After their meating i got a bit confused. Is it present day or a flashback after flashback.
Then Tayo is talking to Robert about how is feeling better. This part is also a little hazy for me.
So yep
that's all goodnight

It could be a break up note but I think it was just saying that Josiah could not pick her up. I think he is now part of the scandals in town(well more in on it now) or maybe the love triangle. The meeting is a flashback cause it says that Josiah dies and she leaves. Yup Tayo feels better from his walk with God. I wish more people would post cause I dont want to log back on :(
ReplyDeleteIt also made me mad that Tayo slept with Night Swan knowing that Josiah and her had a thing going on.
ReplyDeleteit never really says what the note is about it just leaves you guessing... thats what makes the book good. i think eveyone can agree Tayo's uncle is going to be a bit pissed when he finds out. i don't think we will ever find out what was in that note.
ReplyDeleteI think the note was just a "Sorry, I can't come by tonight" kind of thing. I don't think it was supposed to be a big deal. The "You are part of this now." kind of confused me as well. I guess we just have to keep reading.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it was a break up note, I think it was like a rain check kind of thing. I agree with your quote, it threw me off when I read it too. I wonder what he was "apart of."
ReplyDeleteKaitlyn,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post.
You guys are getting too stuck on the scandalous aspect of the Night Swan/Tayo thing. Why is he remembering this? Is it guilt? Is it comfort? Remember he is back from war and trying to get well...the only people around him are Auntie and Robert and Grandma. Everyone else is gone, so if he is talking about them it IS a flashback.
Thoughts anyone?
